Dear Congress Delegates and Sponsors
During the 2015 congress held at Champagne Sports Resort a social responsibility initiative was started. The objective of this was to support and give back to the community where the blood transfusion congress is taking place. For the 2017 congress at Sun City we want to make the initiative even bigger and more impactful.
Two schools namely Temogo Special School and Tidimane Secondary School were approached to establish the needs of the children attending these schools. Both of the schools are located in the impoverished rural settlements around Sun City. The principals from the schools indicated that one of the areas that they need assistance with is sanitary pads for the girls that attend the schools.
It is an unfortunate truth that many girls in South Africa and at these particular schools lose school time due to not having sanitary pads when it is needed or having to endure crude and undignified alternatives to be able to attend school.
The objective of this year’s initiative is to provide both schools with sufficient sanitary pads to be able to supply all the girls in the school with sufficient pads for an entire school year. Combined there are about 400 girls at the two schools and this could make a big difference to their lives.
We appeal to all congress attendees to bring sanitary pads with to Sun City or to make a financial donation once at the congress. Any other donations that will be helpful to the schools will also be gladly accepted. All donations will be delivered to the two schools on 31 August by the organising committee.
Help us to make the visit to Sun City one that makes a lasting difference to the local community.
Thanking you in advance.
